This line from Frances Ha by Frances is interesting. Superficially it is in reference to Lev, a male character that Frances lives with in the movie, who comes and goes “easily,” sleeps with a new woman every night, leaves the house quickly, jumps from place to place, person to person, without a care in the world. While Frances stalls constantly, struggling to come and go, attached to everything. On a deeper level it is a statement about the way men are able to walk out on/of things while women tend to feel tethered and bound.
